Joyce Springer Equalities and Equal Opportunities Joyce is the Local Services Directorate Race Equality Advisor for Birmingham City Council. She has been with the race relations committee and Race Relations Unit since its early days, beginning as a Race Equality Manager. She played a central role in making it one of leading local authorities on race relations and equalities. Its work is held in high regard by community organisations. One of its greatest successes was the establishment of a City Council- Community Organisations consultative committee. She is actively involved in a variety of community organisations in Birmingham and the Black Country including: The Drum, ACMC and COPE. She has a special interest in the criminal justice system
